A donation was given in 2022 to improve the health and wellbeing of over 60s living in rural communities. Community Resource runs its Functional Fitness MOT programmes across Shropshire to help to reduce the risk of falling, increase people’s understanding of their fitness levels and encourage them to get or stay active.
Programme activities include one-to-one fitness tests (measuring strength, balance, flexibility and stamina), information on how to reduce the risk of falling and a demonstration on how to get up from the floor after a fall.
A spokesperson said: “Thank you to the WG Edwards Charitable Foundation for their support, which has enabled us to help more people reduce their risk of falling and avoid the long-term impacts falls can have to their overall health and wellbeing.
“The feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with people telling us how enlightening and beneficial the programme is, and the changes they’re making to become more active as a result of attending.”
