Toynbee Hall was established in 1884 in London’s East End in memory of prominent socialist Arnold Toynbee as a Settlement delivering a cultural, academic and educational programme to the working classes. The charity continues to work with the community to tackle poverty and inequality and works with more than 600 older people at its Wellbeing Centre. Toynbee Hall was awarded £4375 for its work with older people. The grant is to fund one year of weekly fitness classes such as zumba, tai chi, chair-based exercises and fall-prevention.
